Grossman House

Product Description

National Trust Properties Series. Grossman House was built in 1870 as Entcliffe by merchant Isaac Beckett. Samuel Owen, Beckett's partner, built Brough House beside Grossman House as as its mirror image. This charming booklet traces the history of the house to when it became a school under Miss Janet Grossmann from 1890 to 1913 until its preservation, restoration and interpretation by the National Trust of Australia (NSW) as a Victorian middle class home with reflections of the school it became in the 1890s. This booklet is beautifully illustrated with photographs by Christopher Shain.
