Product Description

This issue of Art & Australia coincides with the Fourth Australian Sculpture Triennial. Essays on Colonial sculpture by Tim Bonyhady, the work of Paul Raphael Montford in the early decades of this century by Jenny Zimmer, and a review by Peter Timms of the retrospective of Merric Boyd's ceramic work from 1915 until 1958, represent but three contributions to an overdue review of the history of sculpture. This issue's main focus is the selective reinforcement of the specialized showing and critical analysis of contemporary sculpture that has hitherto been left to very few institutions and to a small group of individual curators, commercial gallery directors, critics, and historians.
